New Uniform's in College Football

If you want to be a successful college football coach you have to be a great recruiter. One of the biggest tools that some of the best college football coaches in the nation use are new uniforms. New uniforms are exciting for the players and the fans. Oregon for example has not worn the same uniform combination in two straight games in the past two years. Some people don’t like that teams like Oregon wear 20 different uniform combinations some people like the old fashioned traditional looking uniforms, but that is a look of the past.

3 of Oregon's Many Uniform Designs

What is the recipe for an exciting new college football uniform? Is it the neon colors or the thousands of different design types? All of these different design types are not cheap for these college football programs. But what these uniforms do for a college football program is lure attention, which lures recruits.

Tennessee's Brand New "Smokey" Grey Uniforms

These new uniforms drum up a lot of attention for these college football programs, good and bad. “I know that the first couple of years many people were saying they hated the uniforms,” Mike Belloti (Former Oregon Ducks head football coach) said. “But they were talking about them.” And that is exactly what teams like Oregon are trying to do.

Some of the critics of these new uniforms say that they are making a circus of college football. But maybe that is what college football needs. College football was starting to look like a bland and uninteresting event. People want to watch teams like Oregon play because they are winning and they look good while doing it.

Northwestern's Patriotic Uniform

Although new uniforms may not seem like a big deal in the recruitment of a college football player, it actually is more than meets the eye. For some players different uniforms may be the deciding factor on what school they want to play for. New uniforms are one of the most popular and most important factors in the recruitment of college football players in this day and age.

Why I Chose College Football

College Football has created an exciting event that I can look forward to in the fall by showing me that underdogs can win, sharing the team’s wins and losses as if they were your own, and hearing there is always something new coming.

The underdogs are the teams that everyone likes to cheer for, when a underdog upsets a favored opponent then the whole nation goes into a crazy frenzy. On October 19 there were eight upset victories over ranked opponents. This day was then known as “Upset Saturday.” Everyone notices when the underdogs win; it could rejuvenate an entire athletic program. I had a personal experience in this “upset Saturday”. I attended the South Carolina vs. Tennessee game. Tennessee upset then ranked number 7 Gamecocks 23-21 on a last second field goal. I remember crossing my fingers as me and thousands of ecstatic fans watched Michael Palardy kick the winning field goal and the entire stadium going crazy! It was one of the best emotions that I have felt in a long time and that I will feel in the future.

Every Saturday in the fall there is a chance for something new to happen. Whether its Oregon’s new uniforms or Missouri State’s 16 new turf designs for their new football field. There is always something new being developed in the college football world.

These factors have motivated me to blog about college football because there are some many things going on in the world of College Football. Literally every day there is a new story about something going on in College Football. Something I would like to go more in depth in blog about is the emotion that the fans have about College Football. How winning and losing effects an average college football fan to them, this would be very interesting to me.
